#StandWithUkraine

ETC has launched two initiatives to express our unwavering solidarity with the people of Ukraine – our friends, our colleagues, our artistic and cultural partners – who are suffering under the brutal invasion by Russia.

1) The first is an OPEN LETTER to national governments, the European Commission and world leaders. This urges them to support European cultural organisations to continue collaboration with Ukraine – supporting us “to receive and host artists, to stage performances, to organise events, to inform and facilitate access to resources, to advocate for a peaceful solution.”

Over 50 major cultural networks have signed the letter, representing 1000s of theatres, music venues, festivals and arts organisations across the continent, alongside more than 600 individuals – including high-profile artists such as Schaubühne Director Thomas Ostermeier and National Theatre (London) Artistic Director, Rufus Norris.

Any other organisations who would like to sign can contact Christy Romer on communication@europeantheatre.eu

2) The second is Voices For Ukraine, a platform to collect and share reflections from artists in Ukraine.

The responses include regular war diaries from actors who remain in Kyiv, stories of how directors escaped to Poland, a theatrical piece recorded in a bomb shelter, stories of how metal sculptors have switched to making anti-tank barricades.

If you are an artist from Ukraine and would like to submit a reflection, please contact Teresa Pfaud tpfaud@europeantheatre.eu. The submissions can be in any form – text, video, audio, images. We publish the submissions alongside your name and profession.
